Medicare Part B
Medicare Part B is the portion of the Medicare program that covers outpatient medical services, such as doctor visits, preventive care, medical equipment, and some home health care. It is sometimes called "medical insurance."
Part B is available to people who are eligible for Medicare and have enrolled in Part A. It requires payment of a monthly premium, which is based on income and is typically deducted from the beneficiary's Social Security or Railroad Retirement benefits.
